The treatment process will begin by applying a liquid fluoride varnish to the teeth. This helps to protect and strengthen the teeth from instances of tooth decay. In order for the fluoride to work properly, you should avoid drinking, eating or rinsing for about 30 minutes following the appointment. We can apply this fluoride as often as it is needed or requested by the patient. You can and still should keep up with routine at-home care in order to keep your teeth healthy and strong. For our pediatric patients, we typically apply fluoride as a routine treatment during their checkup appointments. Fluoride is safe and effective when used in a professional setting.
